Charles Laughton (1 de julio de 1899 - 15 de diciembre de 1962) fue un actor de teatro y cine, director, productor y guionista inglés-estadounidense. Laughton se formó en Londres en la Royal Academy of Dramatic Art y apareció por primera vez profesionalmente en el escenario en 1926. En 1927, fue elegido para una obra de teatro con su futura esposa Elsa Lanchester, con quien vivió y trabajó hasta su muerte. Interpretó una amplia gama de piezas clásicas y modernas, lo que tuvo un gran impacto en Shakespeare en el Old Vic.
